Seven Days of Covenant
Renewing Our Covenants
Saturday & Sunday Devotion: Days 6 & 7 – Celebrating and Crafting Our Vision
Scripture :
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) (For singles: “I will make an everlasting covenant with them… I will not turn away from them to do them good.” — Jeremiah 32:40, NKJV)
Devotion :
As we conclude this month’s transformative journey at Pentecostals—through renewal (Week 1), connection (Week 2), sacrifice (Week 3), and covenant (Week 4)—this weekend is a celebration of growth and a launchpad for the future. Jeremiah 29:11 promises God’s plans for hope, a foundation for the “Marriage Vision Statement” couples will craft or the “Personal Covenant with God” singles will shape. Reflect on Sarah, a church member who, after a month of challenges, wrote goals with her spouse to pray daily, deepening their bond. Research from the Journal of Marriage and Family (2022) shows couples setting shared goals post-reflection report 30% greater relationship satisfaction, a testament to intentional planning. For singles, this covenant with God offers a roadmap for spiritual growth. Spend this weekend celebrating your progress—through fasting, unplugging, and vow renewal—and write a vision to carry forward God’s work in your life.
Challenge for Married Couples:
Over Saturday and Sunday, celebrate this month by revisiting highlights (e.g., a shared fast meal, an unplugged talk). Then, craft a “Marriage Vision Statement”—write 3-5 goals based on the vows (e.g., “We will cherish each other with weekly dates” or “We will support each other in sickness with a care plan”). Discuss and refine it together, perhaps over a special brunch or evening fire pit. Pray together, thanking God for the month and seeking guidance for your vision.
Challenge for Singles or Those with Non-Participating Spouses:
Over Saturday and Sunday, celebrate your month’s growth (e.g., fasting moments, New Covenant prayers). Craft a “Personal Covenant with God”—write 3-5 goals reflecting His promises (e.g., “I will seek You daily in Scripture” or “I will serve others with His love”). Reflect in a quiet space or with a friend, ending with prayer, thanking God and asking for strength to live this out.
